![]() ![]() As with Benassi, XL also treats Miskovsky's otherwise bland vocals, this time turning them into haunting whispers that drift over the track in an opaque manner. It gives the track a disorienting fairy tale ambiance that is quixotic, to say the least. Junkie XL takes a somewhat mellower approach, instilling his remix with tinkling bells at the outset. It bears little, if any, resemblance to the somewhat bland original. Benassi has even treated Miskovsky's vocals, adding an effective warble to the mix that creates character and nuance. First up on the bill is the Benny Benassi Mix, which injects the song with a surging electro shuffle that spirals around and around and aroundin a dizzying array of ping-ponging synth before bouncing off into a bass injected lope. If anything the song sounds like it was dredged up from somewhere in the early '80s.įlashbacking aside the real draw of this mini-album are the five remixes courtesy of various well-know DJs/producers. It's clean, well-mannered, and easy on the ears pop theatrics that sound more fitted for a Kleenex drenched chick flick than a bristling action videogame. Entitled "Still Alive" it's a blended shift of mock orchestral strings which flirt with the syncopated rhythms, crystalline guitar licks, and over-dubbed vocal intrusions. The theme song to the videogame Mirror's Edge is a waft of slick Adult Contemporary pop delivered by Swedish singer Lisa Miskovsky. ![]()
